Guest Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Aren't our birds absolutely incredible. I took my YB on Wednesday for a 35 mile toss, let them go a bit late about 7.30. Took 75 on the night only got 60, Percy had been doing his bit I reckon..............went up the loft last night and 13 more had got back, one of whom was missing his right eye, ripped down the side of his neck and chest!!! Incredible................
Guest Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Hi Albear, yes they most certainly are! I had the privilege of having a Busschaert hen quite a few years ago that had won a lot of prizes including 3 x 1sts. She was particularly fond of a hard day! We prepared her for Provins, 478 miles, a real nose ender! All the team were back on the night exept her! I was devastated. Being a young lad made it worse! Early next morning, she was home, she had unfortunately, had her eye pecked out in the basket. I shed tears over her return, and we retired her from racing immediately. She's long since gone, but left a great line of winning genes in our loft.
