Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Read belowe then look at chart for the next week click on to enlarge This chart includes a 7-day forecast that estimates the times in which it may be unsafe to train and/or race pigeons. Pigeons are sensitive to changes in the Earth's magnetic field. During periods of time when the magnetic field is in abnormal flux, the ability of pigeons to navigate home from distant locations becomes impaired. Changes in the Earth's magnetic field are largely driven by disturbances in space that originate from the Sun (i.e. coronal mass ejections and other types of space weather disturbances). This chart shows times in which training and/or racing pigeons may result in poor performance. Periods of time in GREEN represent SAFE periods. YELLOW represents periods when caution should be exercised. RED areas represent times which are hazardous (i.e. pigeons may not be able to return home quickly, if at all). BLACK areas represent dangerous times in which significant loss of birds may be observed if trained or raced from a distance. The times on the chart are in Universally Coordinated Time (UTC - also known as Greenwich Mean Time or GMT). To convert UTC time to U.S. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), subtract 4 hours from the time on the chart. Subtract an extra hour for Eastern Standard Time (EST). This chart is updated once a day.
