Don't think the previous discussions on this topic have been related in any way to medicating the new birds?

 

It's more about the fact that my birds may carry a slightly different colony of micro-organisms on and in their body than yours, yours might carry something that they are fairly resistant to, but mine aren't.

 

So all new introductions go into a period of quarantine. Although it started out [i think] as purely a precaution [good practice] its now official advice on DEFRA website.
