phillips Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 HOW MANY FLYERS LEAVE FOOD INFRONT OF THEIR PIGEONS ? HOW MANY BREAK THEM DOWN ? HOW MANY FEDD TO A MEASURE?
EAGLEOWL Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 i never break my pigeons down, theres food in front of my w-hood cocks all the time ,i think this is where many people go wrong they dont know how much to feed their pigeons they read all the books videos all saying they break their birds down after the race . many years ago i listerned to a top fancier telling a new starter to feed depurative as much as they could eat .he nearly starved them to death training them on just barley from a farm ,food like this and training them very hard.i couldnt believe what he was saying but he wouldnt take advice from me and lost the lot from 150 miles never to see one again sadly he packed in never to race again. yes some people will be successful breaking their birds down ,for me ive always have food in front of my cocks in their boxes never from the floor ,for new starters to w-hood i would say keep the food there dont take risks trying to break the food down if you get it wrong you will lose your birds.
Ronnie Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 Eagleowl how are your results in racing? I'm not being picky or insulting just genuinely curious as next year will be my first year on widowwood and i havnt got a clue about the feeding methods yet. Also when you say food in front of them all the time what food is it?
Guest Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 i thought u would break ur birds down with dupurative at the start of the week for say 2 days then feed back normal after that? i race natural ,food is only there twice a day(usually after training around the cot or when returning from a training toss). my birds never get a break down, only thing extra to normal feed is conditioner seed and loads of peanuts. i strongly believe peanuts are an esential part of my racing season....paul.
timbarra Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 hi people, breaking pigeons down then building them up , is very old hat. does anyone think beyond videos, dvds, books and actually look to see what pigeons require? my birds are fed as much as they want 2 or sometimes 3 time per day. they are fed versa laga energy plus, which is basically a diet mixture. this they get all year round and nothing else apart from peanuts good quality peanuts too. nothing else required, and my results are , I win 50% of races entered and prizes taken are 90% in races.!!!! good pigeons and simple sensible management win races .. nothing more. regards spence , all the best guys
EAGLEOWL Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 ronnie im not shouting my own results but im always in the top two come end of old bird season and take into account i only race on average four five pigeons a week ,i have raced like this for years my losses are maybe one old bird a year .for the food i always feed the best corns plus i use alot of other seeds to prepare my birds for a race its not just the feeding its the condition and motivation that wins races .
chichichi Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 the best food is given,,but taken away after they have eaten,,no food is ever left in the loft except when they are supposed to feed.....they get what they want but must do the work....our birds have done very well for the past decade but our new feeding system has pushed them nearer the top for the last 2 years....they eat when we want them to eat and not any other time....always clean water..very important....
phillips Posted September 27, 2007 Author Report Posted September 27, 2007 MY WIDOW COCKS HAVE FOOD IN FRONT OV THEM ALL THE TIME WHEN I LET THEM OUT FOR EXERCISE IN A MORNING I PUT FOOD IN THEIR POTS THIS FOOD STAYS WITH THEM TILL I LET THEM OUT AT TEA TIME THEN I TAKE OUT WHAT THEY HAVE LEFT AND REFRESH THIS IS REMOVED 1HR 30 MINS LATER I NEVER LEAVE CORN OVER NIGHT . ITS FOR THE COCKS ONLY IF YOU LEAVE IT OVER NIGHT ALL YOU WILL BE DOING IS FEEDING LONG TAILS
jimmy white Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 never have w hood cocks hungry ,,,but different feeding for different racing
