Guest Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 maybe if they were going to post them back to you they may be caught up in the back log of post after the strikes by Royal Mail?
Guest karl adams Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 wow i have had an email today of versele laga and they have told me the results and they have told me that it takes 14 to 19 days to do the tests wich i think is a bit to long and if i new that was the case i would not of brought it
tubbles Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 wow that really is a long time, if the birds were sick, it would really take a hold by then. would be hard waiting that long if the birds didn't look right.
Guest Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Can you say what the laboratory test was for? Was it a further test to identify and name 'organisms' found in the sample? The reason I ask is that your test may have been much more detailed than the ordinary one. For example my vet identified a bacterial infection in one of my birds wing joints which was not salmonella and sent it off to a lab for identification -£30 extra cost to me, and it took 10/12 days for a result. Recent Pigeon Health dropping / throat swab test came back with 'high bacterial count'. He couldn't tell me what the bacteria was without doing a further lab test. Thought that it would have been more helpful to know exactly what I was dealing with.
Guest karl adams Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 my birds had bad wet droppings so i sent samples to them and the results are sample (1) coccidiosis + hairworms ++ and roundworms ++ sample(2) coccidiosis + hairworms ++ and roundworms++ the bacterial cultures of both samples are negative
Guest Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Thanks Karl, as you rightly say, you could have done with knowing about these problems a lot quicker than you were told. Hope all goes well.
