Guest dogeon Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 hi as im new to the sport can any one give me some advice! i only had 3 ybs left after the final club races, but i have got some late breeds which im now training with the 3 remaining birds, ready for the yearling, should i be traing them as i would at the begining of the season or should i be resting them to get ready for breeding
thunderboult Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 you can train your latebreds but i would leave the young that's raced the programme at home they've had enough already and should be moulting now
Guest Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Agree, surprised the 3 racebirds are in a fit state, are they not well into the moult now? Think your thinking was spot-on tho, the racebirds are experienced and should make educating your latebreds that bit easier.. Just watch for the weather turning colder then stop them. Advice on this forum for latebreds turned yearlings is to wait till warmer weather in May before you start training them again next year.

jimmy white Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 in my opinion , would train them locally [say up to 15 miles ,on their own ,in good weather,in differant directions ,as they will now be body moulting too now] i would say, the biggest problem would be ,training them too early next year [that will spell disaster] train them in may , with just a couple of come back races , theyll make great two year olds [if their still there,,hope so ]
