Hi, I lost hen, and can I put her eggs under another pair because I think that cook is going to live nest  ? Can they feed more than 2 youngsters? for example 3  because I don’t want to lose that , and another pair laid  eggs on the same time.

yes a pair will feed three young birds , would not do it with birds intended for racing though, have done it before with stock birds, never tried more than three though.

Yeah 3 is the maximum but remember this will be a huge effort for the parents. Is it worth putting the strain on them? You will have to give the parents extra special care ,like a really good rest afterwards,multi-vits.Good luck

I would[if you don't already] have food and water in the box so the parents don't have to go far for it and the yb's learn to feed and drink quicker.I always make homoform available to the birds and pick pots.I would give the multi vits towards weaning time and split the parents as soon as the yb's are weaned..ie would not re pair they will have worked hard enough, you could crush a few peanuts while they are feeding [check they are clean..if in doubt microwave for 30 seconds] mix with the normal feed, they give extra energy and fat.Good luck

Hi, from the beginning I put 4 eggs (because I lost one pair on 16th  day on the eggs) but after a few days smallest one died. Survived 3 and this  3 pigeons flying now, youngest (from this 3)  is bit smallest then other, but its going to be fine. It shows that 3 eggs is possible, but it was really hard for parents and I was helping them, and I think that without my help the weakest one would be death.

personally I would not let them rear more than two not if you value your birds.

I think that the post telling us what happened answers the thread's question. Yes they can hatch 3 eggs and raise them, but the youngsters won't be 'finished' to the same quality as the normal nest of 2.

Think it boils down to the fact that parents only have enough pigeon milk for 2 youngsters. The 3rd youngster's rations must then come off the other 2 who get less than they need - so all 3 get less than they need. Not the best start in life.

I read that some fanciers only breed 1 egg,so the parents really have a easier job,and the newborne is spoiled. 3 , just seems like too much stress on all the birds.   Just an opinion from someone yet to own any....lol:)
