Mr F.D. Alcock who resided in Abercynon vel 643 ypm won in 1965,2 years after his fellow club member Jack Davies won it -not bad for a small club.

I knew Jack quite well but no memory of Dereck only by name.

Just spoke to my oldest friend Elved Phillips who remembers this and related that when this bird was purchased,it was agreed with D Alcock that D Bowen would send for apparently three birds and when they came back Dereck was asked to pick one on picking the first danny said he fancied that one so Dereck said well i will have take next of his choice to which Danny said "but so and so fancied that one" so Dereck was left with what he described as the ugly duckling, the rest as they say is history
