newcomer seeking advice

hi. ive had pigeons since may. i purchased 18 youngsters off 3 different people out of the bhw, but unfortunately lost most  of them one day when i let them out for exercise, i now have 4 birds. they had been flying around the house for about 6 weeks prior to this. could there have been something i was doing wrong? i fed them the same time each day and always keep the loft clean.

Fly aways can happen to the best fancier, could have been anything from a hawk to just bad luck. If it was a "flyaway" overcrowding is one cause. How big is your loft?
