883girl Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 Well I finally found out what our free hens are........tumblers! Question is what would be the result if a logan and a tumbler bred? Which they have! Found three eggs so far. I actually needed Logans, but we couldnt say no as it was my hubbies boss that gave them to us for nought. Am i right in assuming that the tumblers are not particularly good for dove releases? And am i right in assuming that the cross of logan and tumbler won't be either? Still what ever they are so sweet and pretty, looks like i have some garden birds after all
883girl Posted December 3, 2007 Author Report Posted December 3, 2007 A TUMBOGAN OR A LOGALER I knew that was coming - aw thanks! ;D

883girl Posted December 3, 2007 Author Report Posted December 3, 2007 Can I have some helpful advice please?! ;D
homer Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 offspring may still home. ive had pure bred rollers in the past that could home so racer crosses could be in with a chance..............but could be a bit of a gamble ?
Guest Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 ;D i have had the very same in the past , white racer crossed with either birmingham roller and / or white garden fantails .(told Dovescot about them before) pretty white pigeons and yes they did home ok from several miles in all directions . but in all honesty and to save any potential heartbrake , would breed white racing pigeons to do the task ;D andy

Guest shadow Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 If you want them for dove release i would only keep the racing birds eg logans the other would be lucky to make it back from a few miles and the x breds would be no better good luck in your new venture :)

I'd worry sick if i released them and then they didn't come home. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the advice. agree with shadow,, if a jobs worth doing its worth doing right ,, i would do it with the proper white racer , properly trained you could do dove releases covering a good few miles ,, with less worry
