chichichi Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 we fly widowhood cocks, celibate cocks and celibate hens,,, celibate is very easy to do but you got to wind them up for the races,,, widowhood is fantastic but a waste of good hens,,,
Guest Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 thats the trouble ive done very well with hens....its a catch 22 situation ....paul
deanbruton Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 paul, next year we are trying a team of 12 widowhood hens and also a team of widowhood cocks. Haven't tried this before new loft has just gone up, will depend on amout of time i will have next year just all plans in my head at moment. Always wasted good hens so next year i have picked the best out and they will be raced so will have 2 chances to win.

thunderboult Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 hi inv. i fly roundabout, it's easy enough to do, basically you need at least 2 sections . 1 where the birds have their nest and a spare section for the hens to go in. i let the birds have a round early in the season(to bond em to the box)and then the hens go in the other section .the birds are flown seperated around the loft/training only seeing their mate on basketing night/race day. it's a little bit similar to the door method with yb .
sammy Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 roundabout for races up yo 260/80 miles for training then natural for the longer marathon races
Beanz Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 Out and out widowhood, if the cocks race well then the hens are not being wasted in fact they are an important part of the team. Paul
ray Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 you have to have the ( feeding ) and motivation right
carlsberg Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 roundabout is the best way to fly cos hens dont get wasted, most of last season's prize winners for me were hens maybe because you can motivate hens better than cocks
