Due to the wet summer very little hay or straw or arable crops have been harvested.Consequently the prices for all animal feed and bedding is set to rise dramatically, already has in many feed shops and they are cashing in on products such as easi bed and shavings too,so it's definately worth stocking up now.You have been warned!

Just wondered how much of the pigeon stuff is home grown? Remember reading about an artic spilling its load of v/laga? fresh off the ferry from Belgium.

And won't stocking up push prices up too?

AYE and maybe we should have listened, the barley I was buying has nearly doubled in a six week period, the wheat is the same, but the ironic thing about these two is he grows them locally himself, so the floods or bad weather had nothing to to with his crop, just another case of jumping on the band wagon to rip us off, a bag of tic beans was priced at £8- 80p today.   :-/

I did post elsewhere that the current hikes seem more to do with high demand pushing prices up. Its when the current stuff in storeage can't be replaced like-for-like due to poor harvests that prices will really go thro the roof.

well things must be looking better because the price of a bag of barley was actually down in price today from £5 a bag to £4-50  :o

tammy  the price of our feeding and the availability of it is going to become a major issue in the near future, i saw a notice today from a supplier stating that things will get far worse before they get better................ ::) ::) ::)

There is a farmer in cheshire (advertises on BHW) who growns his own wheat and maples and rape etc. When I first starting going wheat was £ 2.50 for 25K, Maples £ 5 and Rape £ 6. Went recently and wheat is £ 5.50, Maples £ 8 and Rape £ 6.50 couldn't beleive it. Apparently it is a world wide hike (not just UK) these cereals are now being more heavily used to produce fuels and the like. Looks like keeping pigeons is going to get much more expensive !!
