Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 sounds like the other was trying to steel his box. I was watching a dvd and if there is a pieon trying to take 2 boxes lock the boxes that is already taken and leave open the box you want the cock to take to and when sttled open the other boxes if you have the facilities to do this

I was watching a dvd and if there is a pieon trying to take 2 boxes lock the boxes that is already taken and leave open the box you want the cock to take to and when sttled open the other boxes if you have the facilities to do this when i started i had the new box's and let the cocks choose their box then i introduced the hens and paired them in togrther untill they had the eggs then i took the fronts off, theres been no trouble until now i was woundering if its because his eggs havent hatched yet and he was investigating
Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 Could be if he hasnt had any young before he might just be being nosey. Hope you get it sorted
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 thats the way it goes sometimes aye unfortunately it is, but thats just nature for you
THE PRIEST Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 I personaly let the pairs out one at a time for the first week usualy changing the pair thats out twice a day. The second week of pairing i let two pairs out at a time and keep up this process untill i am satisfied that they are all keeping to there own boxes. It usually works but i still get the odd one that works him self trying to take a extra box.
THE FIFER Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 this happens often, i often wodered if you had the room to put the nestbowl on a shelf, then any stranger coming in would hopefully fight on the floor of the nest,

jimmy white Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 have a pair sitting eggs, bottom box,, pair above not laid yet ,,every time that bottom ch cock comes off his egs he just throws the pair out , then takes charge of that box ,,,locked him in his own box ,,made him worse , so now at the mo, while hes not sitting hes in the basket ,,just hoping that when the hen in the middle box lays , the cock will show a little more oomph [this is a new cock to the loft ] but as soon as she lays ,,ill put dummy,s under them ,,till they sort themselves out , then hopefully replace the eggs
Guest Paulo Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 these things happen in war I find using the old style clay nestboxes gives the young a bit more protection but still does not prevent it from happening. Pigeons can get a bit carried away when they are fighting. I call one of my yearlings hammers he's that violent I took him to the club show and he tried to set about the pigeon in the next pen big mistake
