Guest Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 all these top mixes by versa laga etc doesnt make u a successful flyer, wot makes success is ur skills at flying/handling ur birds. i know a double national winner that ONLY feeds corn straight from the farm. so i dont know why some fanciers believe that by paying over £11-12 a bag is any better. with these high prices these days id opt for farm food all the time. the farm where i get most of my corn from is a decent chap and goes out of his way to please. naturally its each to their own to buy and spend wot they want but id advise anyone to try feed straight from the farm(them that have not done so)..paul. :)
Guest shadow Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 The chinese are the ones buying up much of the grain for bio fuels they are doing the same with the worlds timber the price of fencing panels are nearly double what the used to be this time last year

paul l Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 ive just got back frm pet shop got 2 bags of mixed corn 699 each
Guest Vic Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 I have heard that the maize in the USA is being used for octane fuel purposes, which has increased the price of sweetcorn, all round. Surely, peas, beans etc aren't in this catergory, so why the overall increase? > Vic.
Beanz Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 Its called Greed, I have just rung a corn merchant which I use and his blue and white peas in the last 3 years have gone from £4-50 to £8-75. Paul

Lennut Tar Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 ;D So you know Ned Kelly then "Uncle Ned", of course I do I !!!!!!!. I also know the owner of the motel at Glenrowan, his old stamping ground :D one could say. The whole family were mad pigeon flyers (Geordie lofts, my mate Billy calls himself now) before they all saw the light, years ago & decided they would prefer a bit of sunshine here etc. None of them, miss those occasions in winter, when they had to carry the buckets of hot water, down to the allotments for the poor old birds near thr slag heaps, I can tell you. Great mate Billy, "Typical Pom" for what I see ;D ;D ;D flys a pretty mean 500mile bird, Rang me up on last friday night & said, I'm coming around to get your best race cock, from the season just finished for stock. & he did. Bright & early on saturday. What could I do ?????? I was :-/ but I certainly wasn't going to :K) rest assured. Though I will get him back one day ;D ;D ;D I have no doubt "Big Time". PS Even grampa & grandma are here (smart !!!, saw the light also) for the squeakers of the family. Enjoy

Lennut Tar Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 Are you far from Kalgoorlie? "Yes", :P I may look & appear silly DOVEScot, to you & others here at times, (I'm not a complete fool though) but the best I will do or say is. Head east young man !!!!!!, but don't try walking. Because you woulb be knackered if you reached my little piece of paradise. Not all that long ago, I passed uncle Ned's cottage ???? (still standing, only just) where he was born & I remember when I used to sit on his knee as a wee lad ;) & he told me about the trouble he was having with you royalist, ;D ;D ;D & that he thought he would get wieghed down in the end (which he did) uncle Ned was a republican in his day I think, with the adventurous spirit that he had, just like me, some would say. PS, Long live the Queen, (she really is a marvel) After that, silly Charles & his little flower Camellia - Camela what ever !!!!! :D take over the top job, all us republican's down here, will be hiding our heads in shame, with those two sitting at the head of the table. Enjoy.
Guest Paulo Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 I've been to the chemist this week instead and instead of buying electolytes this year am just going to use glucose and honey works out at £1.50 -£2.00 rather than the £5.00 it costs for electrolytes. Instead of bath salts at £3.00 - £5.00 a tub going to use posstium permagate at £1.50 a tub. Instead of expensive tonics going to use metatone at £3.00 a bottle.
