timbarra Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 HI CAN ANYONE INFORM ME AS TO WHERE JOS VAN DEN BOSCHE GOT HIS PIGEONS FROM IN 1908 APPROX. WHAT HIS THE BASE BLOODLINE OF HIS BIRDS, PLEASE. I CAN ONLY TRACE WHAT I NEED AT THE MOMENT BACK TO 1958
Guest Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 I have searched the PIPA web-site, and through the History of the Belgian strains books, but can come up with nothing! I find this particularly strange as the Van Den Bosche were a key family in the history of Belgian racing pigeons! Only thing i can suggest is if someone has a copy of Albert Babington's book you may be able to gain some information out of that. its a long time since i read it, but i'm almost sure it was in there about Josef Van Den Bosche, and Adriaan Wouters. I think that there was Janssen in them, supposedly through De Klaks birds, and Hofkens but don't know whether that was the Wouters side of the family as its is a long long time since i was reading into that. I think that Houben, Jan Grondelaers, and Felix Pauwels were based on the Van Den Bosche, if u can dig up info on those it may help your research a little. Or you could contact Ad Shaerlaeckens, he is probably the most knowledgable man left from that era, if anyone willl know, he will! His web-site is on the pipa website www.pipa.be www.shaerlaeckens.com
Guest Thunder Birds Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 The original line is Hansenne. This is where the recessive red or chocolate colouration comes from. Marus Van Den Bosch got pigeons from a fancier in Diest - Jos Van Santen. Jos Van Santen in turn got his pigeons from Namote who obtained his birds from Sauveur and then Hansenne. There may be other lines mixed in.
schouwman71 Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 was told that there were some theo guilbert blood running through them aswell, but i mentioned to timbarra that there were alexandra hanseene blood in them but said none of his belguim friends have found nothink out yet.But i guess us british are more keener of the origin of breeds more than the belguims are.Silverwings has some great knowledge on them has it was him that told me.
Guest Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 Interesting to here the base lines lads, particularly of the Theo Guilbert of Zulte link! The blood of his birds runs through some of the biggest names in pigeon history! Very informative, well done! ;D
timbarra Posted January 23, 2008 Author Report Posted January 23, 2008 Hi just to update people , I have read all on the subject of pigeons and to maybe get an answer as to where Jos Van Den Bosche originally got he;s pigeons ? well my research has lead me to a gentleman in USA ( very reliable source) who has informed me that Van den Bosche has the bloodlines of Rene Maas . Also Jos Van Den Bosche was a friend of Charles van der Espt and the Brothers van Der espt. Charles van der Espt had pigeons from Van der Velde, whos pigeons orininate from Gurney, ( brown coloration in flights maybe?) Gurney was Hensenne loft boy as a lad and had hes entire colony once Hanssenne died. so just to recap I think Van den Bosche are a mix of Rene Maas and Van der Espt pigeons.. other various bloodlines may also be in them, my reasearch goes on. But I must find concrete proof of the for mentioned facts, only person who really knows is Mr J V D Bosche himself. regards spencer
