It works in the following way. It takes approximately 18 days for a egg to hatch so if it's laid in the 2nd of December, drop to the line below for the date it will hatch, in this case, 20th December.
Peckedhen Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 Brilliant. Thanks Craig, just what I need, really useful.
Guest slugmonkey Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 The new Hawkeye program does the same thing you put in the date the egg is laid and it figures when the bird should hatch it will also fill in the lay date if you put in the hatch date and it will print out a loft card with this info p.s. I wish I had this card years ago Craig
Sajfos Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 Good Lad Craig , Very Handy....Thank You .
Guest Vic Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 After recording the mating date and laying date, surely the eggshells lying around should tell us what dates they have hatched. It is so easy to feel the size of a youngster, without looking, when it is ready for ringing. The less disturbed at this tender age, the better all round. Your printed schedule may be ideal for new srarters, but they will soon learn. After ringing at 8 days old, don't handle them again until at least 12 days old. At this age, you can feed them any additives you want, till the weaning stage.
billy wilson Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 i think it was on before craig by chris vasey,it was pointed out that there are 29 days in this month as it is a leap year, but it can be overcome billy
