Amtrak (again)

Dealing with Amtrak yesterday, I found that some changes have been made, during the last three months. They now have an automatic answering system in operation, Thank God! As in the past, I have wasted many minutes, waiting for a passerby (maybe,) to pick the phone up, and promptly ring off if you complained. Another, somewhat strange, alteration;- They will NOT now accept cash, only cheques (I could leave it there, ;D) but wont. Apparently, someone has been ripping them off by all accounts, (No wonder their prices are sky high)  I am talking about the Merseyside area and the same conditions might not apply elsewhere.

hi mate. i aranged for some birds to be picked up, from a member on this site, around november. i was told all had to be done online now. but been told by people in different areas, that they can do cash on delivery.

Coey. I did say that this may only comply to the Merseyside area. As usual, the rest of the country will follow suit before long. ;D

Spoke to them today firstly about picking up two birds for myself, the lad I spoke to was really helpful and said they will pick them up and let me pay cash on delivery,  that said they came to me yesterday to collect a bird for a member on here and they arrived without a suitable box to put it in!

in there defence I think the drivers take a lot of the pick up calls when they are out of the depot, again in their defence they came back today with the corect box and gave me 6 spare ones for future use

sounds to me as though with a lot of these big companys it depends very much on your location as to what sort of service you are going to get. :-/
