phelo84 Posted March 7, 2008 Author Report Posted March 7, 2008 They need food and water in front of them 24/7 when they are feeding youngsters. Also grit and minerals. I would just replace the next eggs with dummy eggs until you get your new loft. If you haven't room to put a second nest bowl in the nestbox the birds will just find a corner of the loft to nest especially if you are using deep litter. Once they have laid you cannot move the eggs or they will abandon them. I have other nest boxes they can go in, there is always a fresh supply of water i got a water feeder from my uncle who used to breed budgies it has a large container so the supply is constant, will they use the other boxes and what about the young they have now will they still look after them
pjc Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 they will carry on looking after the young as long as you don't disturb them. If you have spare nest boxes put bowls in them and if the adults wish they will use another box, they may just lay again in there current bowl. They do need fresh water daily, don't just leave a large drinker in there until its empty then refill it!
phelo84 Posted March 7, 2008 Author Report Posted March 7, 2008 i dont just leave it i empty it everyday and fill it back up with fresh water they i have also just got the a bath bowl was told that they enjoy that, and seems that they do
pjc Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 they do enjoy a bath, be careful though if you are leaving a bath on the floor incase any youngbirds get out of the box and drown.
