Just wanted to know what a bird has to achieve to have the title of champion,

is it based on a certain number of wins? :)

My own opinion of a true Champion  would be,a bird that has outstanding results over a period of time,in the most prestigous races, regarding competitors and birdage, and at stock is capable/responsible of producing a good percentage of its like or better,on an ongoing basis, for a considerable number of years, this would be what I would term a true Champion,

Champion bird would to win the combine and many wins in the club/fed.

Thanx for the replies, so am I to take it there is no official criteria to make a bird a champion, for example a dog would need 3 show wins all firsts at championship level shows only then can it use the title champion before its name. surely its not just up to the bird owner to decide when a bird deserves to be called a champion :o

A show champion needs to win 5 NPA challenge certificates from at least 4 different judges and no more than 2 as a young bird to be officially recognised as a champion.

Racing pigeons are just that, working creatures, and so can only be judged on ability shown in same, whilst breeding for same capabilities, the better the competition, the more prestigous the result, whle show racers will have a recognised standard which to judge by,typical of dog standards regarding working dog/show dog.
