Release every homing pigeon from one point of interest spot during the busiest time of the day, maybe the opening of a huge event for maximum free publicity, it would be the ultimate to release at the same time as the opening of the 2012 olympics :-/

if this was done right  the papers would be footing the bill

and we would be a sport  with sponsor ship, with the possability at no cost to the fanciers with dues beeing paid by advetising. there logos

In all seriousness in this day and age it could be televised .Even put chips in  rings to map the birds via sattelite as they fly .They build up to the main event could have interveiws with favorites owner saying how they sent the birds maybe a tour round the lofts.Commercial breaks would consist of pigeon retailers paying premium rates to have there adverts aired inbetween. The possibilities are endless how much would some top pigeon stud pay to have there logo painted on the side of a to fanciers shed ...."Buy  "insert product name here"  as used by so and so this years big race winner"

not just tv the pigeon is responsiable for carrying  the first piece of  news, is there any paper out there wanting to get the news last,  if interest can be genarated by us, they will bite the hand of you for  a piece of the action a one penny on the  birdage would buy us enough coverage every week of the year plus sponsership from  grain merchants, and  from all who make a living from us. push for it  and it will happen, the four unions in the uk can make it happen if pushed in the right direction, and the right pr man comes to the fore test the water.

I would say the last Saturday in April, because it is start of the new season and everyone will be racing that weekend, because everyone will have a positive mind in what the season has a head of them which on the other hand if you have it later in the season it could be all doom and gloom if the races have been disasters which would not make good headlines if the papers or tv where to pick up on it.

I would say the day of the NFC's  Pau National, after all, it is the most prestigious race to win on  these   shores, and truly is the blue ribband of em all. Akin to the FA cup final, which has always been the no. 1, top view, regarding football fans world wide. I know that I will get some shillelaghs, dirks, cabers, and leaks thrown in my direction. But it also heralds the start of another yb season , for new and old alike. Just my opinion. LOL Vic.

May I also add, that the greatest horse race on earth, with by far the biggest coverage is the Grand National, and I am sure that the pigeon race from Pau is the pigeon flyers Grand National. Is it not open to all quarters of OUR shores? Vic.

good point there mate! although the blue ribband  and  pau is the daddy

to think about the birdage in the early months could incorperate the  national with that i mean get started then keep  promoting every thing pigeon wise and all prestige races  in all parts of the uk  with a little  help and public advertisement in the local and  national papers  the racingpost  the sporting life all things  sport would you be proud to  here  your  bird getting  all the  lime light

and of course it will help all members   and improve  the standards of life,  for the not so fortunate. it is in our hands this  we  can and should have if every  members support  this  we have  flown a number of years now and deserve our place in this world. your in the sport
