A strange thing happened today an almond roller turned up when i let my birds out flew with the kit as if he was part of the team landed with them bathed in the bath stayed around for a while with them then took off but i was thinking i was mad the last few days as i have been counting my birds when they fly out there is only 8 birds in total 6 of which fly out at a time but i always counted 7 this been since fri-sat just thought i was going mad then this happened today only worry is that on observation he seemed in bad condition good health but tail and wing's look bad with feather rot i wonder if i should keep mine in or still let them out and try catch him in nobody around my area has any rollers only 2 people have pigeons they have racers so it must be lost but i had chance to look at legs on roof no rings not sure what to do any advice

well i have caught  the bird and but it in a box seperate from my loft no ring or stamp seems possible that he has been a stray for a while quite dirty and feathers are a mess but not got lice i will keep him in bathe him and pull damaged feathers to help him get back to peek quicker and treat him for worms and alike and see what happens i live in cheshire if anybody has an almond roller missing he is here with me and safe i will post pic later he is loft wise as he went into loft fine and was easy to handle

just one drop him for the lice and give him a bath with garlic and bathsalts , that should sort it , if birds not rung then it's no-ones property , keep it or rehome it

i will keep him as he kits well with my birds and when i have watched him over the last few days he does really deep rolls actually better than a few of mine and he is a lovely colour will bath him and one drop him keep an eye on him then if all is well in a few days i will put him into loft with my other birds

Hi Jimmy. He's obviously a nice bird or you wouldn't have taken the bother to re-home him. Well done mate. Both parties happy, the bird and yourself. Hope he/she breeds you top class spinners. Have fun.

i would take the time no matter what sad news is he escaped when i was trying to take his photo he sat across the road from me on the roof laughing i'm sure LOL he wasn't amused with the bath and me pulling his rotten feather's i will always care for any birds i come across as it was taking in a stray that started my whole hobby off and i have had great enjoyment from my birds apart from a few bad thing's 2 hawk attacks

Jimmy, He'll be back as he know where his bread ( corn ) is buttered. I too would care for any bird that visited my loft as that is also how I came to have a passion for pigeons. Mind you if someone was pulling my hair oot ( what's left anyway ) think I'd be a bit dis-chuffed. Keep us informed.

will do but i had to do it he was in a real bad way alot of bad feather damage i just took a few away from lower wings and his tail is gone as it was mainly made of quill have treated him and will keep my fingers crossed he is a real good bird is it correct that with no ring or stamp he is mine unless claimed by somebody

Yep, he's yours coz they'd have to prove he was thiers. Anyway, If he is that nice in present condition he will be a cracker when in full bloom.
