The INFC run the Kings cup not the NIPA and any man in his right mind would not ask birds to race 500 mile in rain.

I do not know about other fanciers birds but my old birds are now well into the molt.

The kings cup is a hard race at the best of times so to send birds that where not in good feather would be the biggest joke of all. If the INFC has put the welfare of the birds first then I for one take my hat off to them.

distance racing in ireland will soon be a thing of the past. it  wont be long until the kings cup will be flown from penzance ! if we have to wait for good weather or no rain over here then we will be waiting awhile. there didnt seem to be holdovers or cancelled races years ago . the quality of birds has dropped and people are afraid to lose them..... we fly the hardest route in the world so we just have to git on with it

why not have the kings cup earlier???

don't think the quality of the birds have dropped, maybe people sending birds that are not bred for the job.

So are you saying it it is ok to ask birds to fly 500 mile in rain?

i think it would be very unlikely the it would be none stop rain for 500mls . people are now afraid to lose their birds . not all pigeons are good racers .. the good ones come home and the bad ones dont . thats the simple facts of long distance flying.

I do not think it is the case that people are afraid of losing their birds but that people would not want their birds released in France to fly 500 miles in bad weather. I agree that not all pigeons are good racers but I disagree with your statement that only the good ones come home  I would say 95% of the birds that come home every week (short distance or long distance)are crap racers and will never make the result and some pigeons that have won races will have been lost. Because a bird flys 500 does not make it a racer if it is 2 days late.
