Adam Gray Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 This is all becoming a bit of a joke !!!! How does someone appove you as a pigeon seller ? Why havn't all members been made aware of this in a mailshot ? Unfortunately the hobby/interest is in decline because of the amount of b***ocks people come out with. People spouting off about how much they know or messers messing you around because they have not got anthing else in there lives.

I'm sorry, but when Richard changed the 'for sale' section he informed everyone many times on here. And the reason for being approved as a seller, is so that the admin (Richard and myself) have the sellers contact details in case there are any problems. A while ago, a few people got conned by a member selling birds and we want to try and stop that from happening again. If you read this thread, you'll find out people were informed and more information about becoming a seller and the changes made http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/m-1219665544/s-0/
ChrisMaidment08 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 im off down village to catch strays then into libary to go on internet to log on this site sell them to you for 40 quid a time who am i anybody you get sent rubbish or dont get birds weres the come back you aint got any the way rich has set it up you and this site know who you are so at least i wont be on again selling to anyone
Adam Gray Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 I understand what you are trying to do, but in reality what can you do if someone does con a members, strike them off ? Do you honestly think that anyone dodgy will give a flying ****. Lets get real you get people selling crap at auctions, from there lofts, subscription periodicals and even at shows. As I have said before it is a case of buyer beware and if people have been stupid enough to send money for birds on a strangers promise well thats there problem - they should of arranged to meet the seller, view the birds and then buy or not buy. Genuine fanciers should not be tarred with the same brush or have to jump through loops to validate themselves. Unfortunately some people think that because you may share a passion with someone else there is a degree of trust - GET REAL & STOP BEING GULLIBLE.
grizzle_hen Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Yes it is always buyer beware, but we are just trying to help and we are not making people jump through hoops to be validated, all we ask for is contact details (used in case there is a problem)

grizzle_hen Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Out of interest, what measures are you going to take if there is a problem :-/ You'll have to take that up with Richard (he'll probably be online at lunch or after work)
Ronnie Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 I agree with the personal details bit. Its the professional bit that has me concerned if i was to sell my best cock i would expect more than 360 quid for him same with his hen.does that mean i would become a professional seller surely it should be defined on amount of birds sold not amount of money birds make. This is purely hyperphetical because i wouldnt sell my birds anyway id probably give them away mind .lol
THE FIFER Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Remember to pm me with the following details: - your full name - flying name - full address - telephone and mobile (if available) - email address - loft number or other union information if loft numbers are not in use - whether you intend to be a private or professional seller Then I can approve you as sellers this is the details which a seller has to give before they are allowed to sell, this is so you are not buying from just a username, so if anyone is a buyer and something goes wrong then at leased we know who the seller is, it stops just anyone comming on site and selling , I think it is a vast improvement from what it was, and has been done to try and help to get the best for the members, and I personally think that its a good system, I dont really think its there for a garantee, but for letting us know who sellers are rather than letting you deal with a username.
ChrisMaidment08 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 listening to alll points perhaps the way is to ban seling birds and only have birds donated on site to charity or forum
THE FIFER Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 I have removed two posts as they are not in relation to the topic in question,
DOVEScot Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 listening to alll points perhaps the way is to ban seling birds and only have birds donated on site to charity or forum Sorry but I think that would not help a lot of members, I have bought some good stock through members on the site, I have never sold any on the site although I have given over 200 away to members and non members this year. I think the issues that still need addressed are 1. The difference between professional and amateur status 2. The members that only use the site when they want to sell birds. Personally my opinion is the site has not got this right yet :-/
THE FIFER Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Don't think I was too clear with 'Become a Seller' click here. Once you've clicked it, you now have access to this board (the private 'Pending Sellers' board). Here there are the guidelines and instructions for the next steps in becoming a seller on Pigeonbasics. Feel free to post in here any questions, comments about becoming a seller as you see this thread was left on for anyone to feel free to post any questions or comments about "Becoming a Seller"

With the professional status, this will be reviewed and looked at.
