Loosing pigeons and bad trapping is all part of our great sport. The worst thing is knowing that you are not getting a fair crack of the whip liberating youngsters mid-day with again prevalling west winds and trying to beat the hours of darkness.

Not winning one of the SNFC inland Nationals.

Seriously, losing one of my favourite Gaby cocks at the Newbury National.

More recently, the Europa Classic main event.

Tarbes with the NFC i sent three and really fancied one to come.I lost my Big dopey pied and my best yearling(maybe 700 miles is to far for a yearling) due to inexperience i really thought the birds where ready . i got my little louella hen back a few weeks later. To make it worse the nest mate to the yearling i lost was my Niort winner so i think i may have thrown away a good bird.As long as i can learn from it then its not a total loss .

Mine was not getting to a Channel race. Made worse by the fact that I have never been to a National Channel race and this year was to be my first, sending to 2.

Down to (1) not having good enough 2 YOs for Gold Cup race, dropped 3/4 in Federation racing, 2 of them latebreds that had been earmarked and trained specially since hatching.. and (2) making a cod of nest positions for Ypres race candidate, in that I was too late slipping a youngster under the hen (sitting overdue and keen as mustard) and she rose 7/8 days before basketing night, sitting the chipping egg I slipped the night before, (I could hear it battering away inside). I'd given another pair a youngster a few days previously which they'd taken to. Wrong move. She should have got that one.

Ken better next year, and I've better 2 YOs too.  :)
