cokacola Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 Thanks to the Great advice from members of my club and people like Bewted on here, my birds are now coming in on que when I call them! I just worry about more young birds, I'v only got 10 at the moment, so I suppose any new ones I'l have to go through the training process with/let out seperately? Or they'll get carried off with my current ones which are flying for about 15 minutes at the moment. Tariq.

Tariq, that would be quite true etc, but if you don't get any more ????????? your problem is solved ;) . Now !!!!!! whatever you do, always remember at all times they are babies & have not matured yet, so never cut there feed back to that extent, just so they trap fast. Or you may pay a price with there health. Enjoy, & it's nice to see another young bloke in this sport. "We need you" ;D ;D ;D.
cokacola Posted May 8, 2008 Author Report Posted May 8, 2008 Hi Lennut Tar The young birds have already been promised to me! I have 4 new ones coming on Tuesday (pictures to follow) and really a lot of people have said that with the losses you experience today, it is necessary to have about 20 and 10 is not really enough. Still, I shall have to go through the training procedure with these birds seperately, or they'll end up lost!! With their feed, I'm not starving them, I'm taking the hopper out when the first ones go for a drink Regards Tariq.

Tariq. i think they will just blend in and be flying with the other yb,s in no time i agree with not starving young ones , but growing yb,s are usually hungry quickly , and can be let out b4 feeding time ,,,,,,,,,,,,im wondering if its new birds that are allready been flying that your bringing in,,or young ones straight from the nest

First one to drink ??????? MMMMMMmmmmm if it was me ;D ;D ;D I would work on 20% of your flock at any one time. Enjoy.
Guest spin cycle Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 i think you should be ok. like the other posts say they may just blend in and being positive you've now got birds flying round to bring them back in..you are over the first hurdle. well done and good luck(ok)
cokacola Posted May 9, 2008 Author Report Posted May 9, 2008 The new young birds will be straight off the nest. I won't let them out straight away obviously, I'm sure I'l be able to blend them in like you say though in good time? Hopefully! Tariq.
Peckedhen Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 With my second round of babies, I waited till they were loft flying as a group with the others and then put them in the basket with them and the older ones brought them home.
cokacola Posted May 9, 2008 Author Report Posted May 9, 2008 Yeh, that's my plan too! Hopefully the younger ones won't go off on their own
