Oh my god!! The longer I spend wiv these pigeons the more I love em.  I'm getting to know their personalities now.  Drop Wing is very laid back and placid and Blackie is more stand offish but likes to know I'm nearby, its so sweet.  Old One Eye and Chicken Legs are at my mums now cos Blackie kept picking on them and wouldnt let them eat but they are both getting on really well.

The other day though I had a friend round and he said it was cruel cos I dont let em out any more.  The thing is my grandad made the decision a couple of years before he died not to let em out any more as they were so old (they're all about eighteen)  Old One Eye can hardly stand bless her.  Drop wing seems quite happy and lays down alot.  Blackie is probably the youngest but still old in pigeon terms.  I'm not being cruel am I?  I'm obviously just following on what my grandad had already decided.  They used to go out every day when they were younger.  I just dont think they would survive long now if I let em out.  One got out accidentally about a year and a half ago when my grandad was still alive and we never saw him again.  My friend made me feel really bad  :(

Ah thanks hun.  I'd never want to do anything that's cruel to them but I'd really hate to lose em.  They're lovely.  If it weren't for my job I'd definitely have some more but its not fair on my mum who has to come over every day I'm away xx

They clearly don't miss flying out and have plenty of room in there respective lofts to fly around if they wish.

I think you are doing a great job with them and your grandad would be proud!

Well thank you all so much for all your support I feel better now.  Not really knowing much about pigeons before the beginning of this year its been a big learning curve.  I still haven't put the new shed up as I'm still not sure where to put it.  I know it supposed to be 5 meters away but there is only 2 of them and I love having em close to me.  The pesky cats really intimidate them and as I'm not here sometimes I hate the thought of some bully cat sitting on the roof with the poor pigeons inside crapping themselves.  I'm waiting on some lion pellets that I've ordered off ebay to see if they work and i'm gonna put up some rubber spikes.  There are so many cats around here its hard but the sonic jobby is not really an option as upstairs have a cat so it wouldnt be fair.  Next time im at my mums ill get some piccys of my other 2.  Chicken legs is well funny he just has such long legs for a pigeon!!!! :K)
