pigeonman007 Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Looking good. Just built myself a blok of 8 widowhood boxes, look like roughly the same size as yours. Do you keep them in there until eggs are laid, then allow them free access to the loft or are they just in there for a few days to form a pair bond?
fletch Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 nice birds there mate a few old boys in there whats the pair in the second picture
S.D.B LOFTS Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Nice looking birds m8 what breeds are they ?

Guest anto Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 some nice van reets mate hope they do well 4 you

pigeonman007 Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 Got to agree, does seem a great idea to keep them in there and would simplyfy things for me. Is there enough room in there for them to mate? Same as Vallance, are they let out box by box at all?
Ronnie Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 got three weeks till i pair mine.Must say they are looking good.Just wish i had more cocks still quality not quantity eh . Some nice birds there Ranson and they look well matched

Is there enough room in there for them to mate? Same as Vallance, are they let out box by box at all? Good question there,it would make it easy for me aswell to keep them locked up but like you asked "is there enough room for them to mate?" :-/
Okitsme Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 I paired up on Saturday, not to breed early but to get enough eggs from my Stock to put under my racers. Dont want to breed from my racers. I am having trouble with one pair, can anyone give some advice. They just wont pair up. The others are all settled and cooing away in the nest bowls. I still have the problem pair seperated by a divider.
Guest Vic Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 The ring issue could present you with problems, unless they are foreign.
Guest MBpigeonguy Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 Cool i haven't even finished breeding 2008 YB.
ransom50 Posted December 1, 2008 Author Report Posted December 1, 2008 Never known of anyone to lock them up this long - Are they given liberty such as morning and night one box at a time ? Only curious as seems a good idea in theory yes they are let out one pair at a time in each section this system works for us no box jumping ect its a chew especilay when ive got 30 pairs to see two but it has worked for years and it makes sure i have plenty of eary bred ybs never had problems with the rings they are always on time from the union :)
