jimmy white Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 one or two cocks on widow hood last year were coming home quick but taking that extra few seconds to trap maybe that extra turn or two in the sky and this is a lifetime where i race if the same happens again im thinking its the hen would u change your hen midway through the season maybe worth showing the hen ,then taking them 3 miles b4 basketing friday , back to hen . bet they wont fly round then on sat ;D
just ask me Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 maybe worth showing the hen ,then taking them 3 miles b4 basketing friday , back to hen . bet they wont fly round then on sat ;D i done that just to say i raced 20 cocks and its only 2 maybe 3 cocks the problem am kinda thinking there hen doesent suit them so am thinking of switching the hen if i have the same problem again mid season
Guest Paulo Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 I'm adding some widowhood cocks to my old bird armoury to supplement my natural hens as I've found my hens come good on the natural system and I got some good performances but the cocks seemed to lack something. As for YB's not changing a thing except from putting them all on the darkness instead of having half natural and half darkness like I did this year.
sapper756 Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 I have fed the same food now since 1997 some 11 years and i wouldnt dream of changing it, it has giving me top performances all the way through. I have change my medication a little on the advice of Raymond Moleveld, ie i treat now for parathyphoid, i also treat for respiratory prior to big races. In terms of supplements well 4 oils, garlic and cider vinegar and thats it, i am trying some sedachol this year. In my mind the most important thing is your loft!!!!! Any chance of letting us know a bit about your feeding Stuart? pm me if you prefer ;)

Swilcox :) I hope you have a good night etc, but just be careful now. Danger lurks out there I think, for those that tend to be somewhat ???????? foolish at times. Enjoy.
jimmy white Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Two tweakers for the price of one i usually try and pair up t weak after blackpool ;D ;D ;D
Tony C Posted December 3, 2008 Author Report Posted December 3, 2008 To 2'weak, or not to 2'weak: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind ...
Tony C Posted December 3, 2008 Author Report Posted December 3, 2008 Every year I try something a little different, nothing drastic mind. Tweaks are made to my old bird system (if you can call it a system) sometimes on a weekly basis especially where feeding is concerned. One of my biggest changes has been to cut back on potions, electrolytes, tea and the like, basically trying to cut back on things that are administered via the drinker. Since I’ve cut back on these I can say hand on heart my pigeons have performed better. This year 2008 I went one step further and decided not to treat my old birds for nothing bar a 3 day course for worms until the more prestigious races came around. I had intended to treat for canker just before these races arrived in an effort to lift their form. The pigeons were coming so well that I never did treat for canker and they kept coming. This year I had my best season yet! Conclusion ?
