Its all about money zimmy, if you are mug enough to pay it they will take it off you .

People should make a stand and refuse to pay the prices and they will soon drop the price, as for pedigrees you can only make paper planes with them, when was the last time a pedigree won a race.

I think your spot on,eveyone should help each other not screw each other over, that`s what ruined the sport in england, many now  try to make money out the sport, instead of friendship, even on here now,it`s turning into a  "How much can i make" :B :B :B

Totally agree with you on that one, but can't see how your point has anything to do with my thread?????

Perhaps there's a new thread in the making with your very valid point.

Colin.

This has been taken off Roundo's for sale topic and made into a new topic about the price of birds in general

If you read youngzimmy's original post, I believe it is generally about the price of birds, so that can be the title and the 'prices of birds' is a very general title, so not putting people into boxes

Well you put that little kitten in a box, that`s not fair, and it`s been in there for ages now,so can`t you let it go.

Very true Chris, Money is the root of all evil

Pigeons are not like used cars, they are all individuals and don't have a book value so just like with horses anyone is entitled to ask whatever they want.Beauty is also in the eye of the beholder, what may be worth nothing to one person may be worth a fortune to another?.The " must have strain of the day" also drives prices up,demand exceeding supply for certain strains?,desperation to win exceeding brain capacity? ,who knows?

Only one thing is certain and that is no matter how much you pay they are all as capable as one another of falling off the perch or failing to  live up to your expectations! so that is why I would personally never pay a great deal for any bird or expect people to pay a fortune for my birds.

quite agree...but some fanciers will still 'fill baskets'...some of my clubmates did for me when they'd only just met me.

As I have said on here before, IF people are prepared to pay these high prices, then you can't blame the seller. If the price wasn't paid then you can guarantee one of three things. A) The price comes down, B) the bird stays where it is, or C) it ends up as rose manure, cos not many good birds are sold unless it's an entire clearance sale

I agree but I think the topic is Not about selling birds it's about selling birds at rediculously high prices. Selling a few birds at a reasonable price to help with the corn bill is OK

I think the majority know the reason why these last 'lots' of birds were for sale Paul. Certainly NOT bred to sell m8, I know that ;)
