paul10121968 Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Since i havent yet got an avairy on my new loft for the stock, does anyone let them bath inside the section? I know that it may get the floor wet and damp, but if its mopped up would it cause any harm? Josh just tried bathing in the loft, wasn,t to bad but got my feet all mucky walking back to the house, bit chilly to with a towel wrapped me.so no dont do it. ;D ;D ;D
Guest IB Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I've always put the bath down inside the loft, on the aviary floor. My floors are concrete. I've read the thread and the comments about why you shouldn't do this do make sense, damp patches would be an ideal place for cocci and worms. I used to sprinkle lime, nowadays I sprinkle a dry disinfectant the likes of stalosan or harkers loft treatment, to dry out damp patches. Now the thread has me wondering if that's the right thing to do? When I first started the birds up around 2002, whenever I had a damp patch, I actually made it wetter by spraying it with liquid disnifectant, like Virkon, because I felt it would soak in whether it was wood or concrete, and left it to dry out by itself. I'm now thinking that's maybe the right way to tackle a damp patch? Any comments?
sammy Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 get yirself a good burning torch and once pigeons have had a bath you then dry all damp patches with it try it beleive me works wonders
