kraftykev Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Hi Everyone. I hope you dont mind but i would like to pick your brains about a new pigeon courier service im thinking of starting. I work full time so this is only going to be a part time evening service and im only going to collect and deliver 80 miles driving distance from my postcode. Could any one tell me what insurance i need. I have business cover on my car but was wondering what else i needed. Also what price do you think would be fair as i cant offer a nation wide service only the above radius on three birds then price per extra bird. Thanks for your time and i hope you all have a good new year. Kevin Spencroft lofts Wisbech
OLDYELLOW Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 first you would need a licence to carry / transport lifestock , secondly you would need liability insurance and as only a small area covered i think you would have a problem making it break even , but i wish you all the best perhaps ask some of the other couriers what you need , good luck in your new venture
Guest joshdonlan Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 maybe you could get a partner doing the same thing in another area to increase the distance which you cover. Surely more choice is better for the fancier and prices will become competitive. Josh
Guest bigda Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 my advice forget it mate, you will only get your self into a guddle, here's one for you to start you off i live 80 miles from you and what bird delivered 4 mile from me, so you drive 80mile get bird drive 4 mile then drive another 76 or 84 home 164mile your car 50 to gallon =£15 3hrs away from home,=3-£10=£3.33 per hour that's if you have to go in the north direction, you can go all directions but don't let me put you off mate you might even be getting your fuel for nowt
