Finally...

Welly well well..

It's been a long road {almost a year!!}, but Marge has finally gotten defensive over the box I put in her pen for a nest.

There has been hay present, and Homer has been strutting his stuff.

At first I thought she was just hanging out in it, but when I reached past her to access the food dish, she struck out at me with both of her wings.

To say the least I am excited over hoping she may actually give me some babies (at last?). Either way, I'll keep you all posted on what goes on.

If it's going to happen, it'll happen in their own time, and as long as you've got a male and a female, the eggs should hatch and you'll have a couple of youngsters to add to the collection!  Best wishes - and resist the temptation to interfere.  Leave 'em to it - they know what they're doing :-)

Good luck!

Ah yes.

I've left the little bugs alone for several months, stopping in only to see to their cleaning, feed and water.

:P

Either way, this is a marked improvement to how Marge would react to Homer previously. She'd avoid him like the plague (yes it is a male/fem set - I had the seller doublecheck after I myself checked.), but if she's chosen the box as her nest, I'm hoping Homer finally got her attention.

Well done, and fingers crossed!

You won't forget your first hatchlings.

Cheers.
