Page 109 BHW, Advert from John Gerrard stating he is the NO 1 loft for Kees Bosuas out side Bosuas own loft (fact).

During the Blackpool weekend, John Gerrard had a sale on the Friday night selling off his older Kees Bosuas stock birds.

Then on the Saturday night, the same John Gerrard, was at the Ed Sitner sale bidding on the Kees Bosuas that he was selling.

John Gerrard has obviously taken the oportunity to off load his crap whilst trying to invest in what he must think is better quailty.

You have got to feel sorry for the poor buggers that bought pigeons at his sale on the Friday night.

I don't know John Gerrard, and he may be genuine, however this stinks a bit.

just because he was letting some of his stock go doesnt mean there were inferior , the fact could be he has enough good birds from them he can let them go , and bought some others perhaps different lines from the other sale , just because you already have good birds doesnt mean you stop looking for better , its when you stop looking you stop getting good birds , besides the jury will be out it the birds he bought in are better than the ones he already had  ;)

I only kust flicked through the BHW, but did notice the 2 x sons of 'Sumo starting bid £1,600 each.

Makes Blythys £150 for a young bird one generation on seem even more reasonable

I agree, you should always be looking to improve your stock, but do you realy think he would let them go if they were producing the goods.

Lets face it, he has a full page advert in the BHW, he surely needs to keep all the "breeders" to satify all the orders he will be taking.

i think thats your answer. selling the older ones, keeping the younger one, plus bring in new stock,  makes sense to me.

i will admit i would keep my older ones if they produces the goods as i think they have earnt there perch. but thats just me being a softie lol

after 5 year old most studs would be getting rid as the strain of breeding has took its toll on them by then and they have lost there vitality  :)

Wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

I don't know the ins and outs of John Gerard and care less. But I have to say that fanciers in this area continually buy birds and often pay big money. They still loose loads and struggle to win anything. I think that a heck of a lot of the sales are just a money making con.  There must be thousands of expensive pigeons kept for stock in the hope they might probuce something good, only to disapoint. Meanwhinle the dealers are laghing.

who was the auctioneer at the sale?  is Ed sitner his name or was he someone else?  i want to know for other reasons than the thread so sorry if im butting in, my attention has been aroused by something here.   :-/

Derek Nicholls was the auctioneer at the Ed Sitner sale.

Ed Sitner was not at the sale, apparently he had business commitments back home in America.

If they where crap do you think Bousa himself would have came over from Holland to buy 9 of them? After all no one knows Bousa pigeons better than Bousa. If your in the business of buying and selling pigeons then you buy and sell pigeons, So tell me what part stinks.
