Have 2 pairs that have only 1 fertile egg each. Both eggs chipping now. I want to foster 1 of the eggs so I can get a pair back down again. 1 pair is red cheq x mealy, the other pair blue cheq x blue bar, any good ways to mark the chick that I foster so I know which pr its from

proberly started to make milk now i would let hatch and when on corn try and move then

okeydokey.

Am having a nightmare time of it with them.

pair 1 - 2 fertile, hatched 1 - 1 Dead in shell

pair 2 both clear eggs

pair 3 - 2 fertile eggs, got to about 15 days and started to discolour, now 3 days overdue, I guess D.I.S again

Pair 4 - 2 fertile eggs, 1 hatched, 1 died after chipping

pairs 5 and 6 1 clear egg each

pair 7 only laid 1 egg!!

hey does the 2-3 drops of Iodine in the water work,i have a 02 cock which didnt fill his last 3 round, iv been given him calcium and muti-vit tablets, still now joy iv even plucked him dwn below,anyone no anymore tricks i can try,

cut his feathers off his tail might be too stiff to get under  :)

from tip to the bottom of the tail cover feathers pair of scissors it looks daft but will moult out all the same and gets the job done if no joy you may need to pair him when weather warms up  :)

an inch wouldnt give it clearance that would be the tail marking a on a blue ?  unless its a ladys inch cos they cant measure  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Would be easier to give the youngster to one of the pairs that had 'clear' eggs. Remember and put a pot egg in with any single reared youngsters, leave it in till they are at least 9/10 days old.

That would be my first thought. If the second round goes the same way, then look for another reason.
