Guest Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 I'm not used to gifting birds and getting such a mass response as I did so want the elders and more experienced of the froum to offer me their advice on this one. I have probably 12 left after my pick (if they all hatch) top notch Silver shadows, Van Rijn, and De-Klaks ready for good homes. I've had well more than 12 requests for them but was going down the line of giving a pair to the first six people who responded. Then some causes came in like young Keiran and a few others who want to be new starters came and asked and that's what my aim is, to encourage this to happen so what do I do? Most people want at least a pair so that would mean me making the tough call of saying okay, first six who asked get the birds, but perhaps leaving the youngsters out, or would these people (the know who they are) be happy with a bird each? They would still be getting a top line but just one? Help me out on this one if you will, what would be the best way to go in your honest opinion? I was thinking of asking Vallance as the new boss here if he's be kind enough to draw the names out of the hat would that be something acceptable to you all if he'd do the honours?
Guest numpty01 Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 personally i would select the youngfanciers befor anyone else establihesd members should step aside willingly and let them have first pick ?? how do you decide well look on here for newbys with some posts that way you wont get some jumping in as new members and beleave me they do ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Guest peter.j Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 myself personally would give one each to whoever you think is more deserving ,or draw 12 names yourself and give each one bird no matter what way its done somebody will be dissapointed j.m.h.o
Guest numpty01 Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 im newby can i have deklaks please :-/ :-/ ;D i forgot i was still logged on as me
OLDYELLOW Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 i think give the younger newer fanciers them and sending for one bird becomes expensive so better in pairs besides how many couriers do you want to deal with
Guest Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 Chris, I agree with you wholeheartedly mate, I just don't want to rock the boat with anyone as my aim is just to help others especially newbies in the sport. I agree that some have said they are new and that but I'm not stupid, (well not that stupid ;D ;D ;D ;D) but I have to take some on trust as I don't know them. :-/ Thanks for the advice though it does make sense. Is your p.m open? I'll tell you the position I'm in now and then you can guide me from there?
Guest Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 im newby can i have deklaks please :-/ :-/ ;D i forgot i was still logged on as me Nutter ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D OldYellow, I agree, I think a pair a piece is the way to go as hard as it is on others, there will be more donations in the future no doubt so I can make up that way. mind you, these birds really are something and well worth adding to a team even if its one, never thought this would be so tough. :o

blaz Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 if you have 12 left pick 3 new starts and give the 4 each.try to pick pairs to give them ie cock from one nest hen from another. if you cant pick stick names in a hat. think its a good idea plus it gives a new start a couple of desent birds.

They'll go in the hat Blaz but with the two new starters already given a pair, probably the best I'm going to be able to do, I know the others will understand that I'm just trying to be fair.
Guest Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 Hi tracker oops :B JAMIE I would sell them and go up the pub ;D ;D no only playing I would have to try to give to the younger fanciers first, say a pair each and what is evers left give to me ;D ;D :K)

Guest shadow Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 put all the names of the new starters in a hat and draw them out, all the best, :) but you do get people pretending to be new starters just to get birds for nothing ,have come across them over the years.
blaz Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 ;Dif these birds are coming from where i think. then i am a new starter i am younger than kieran. i sometime feed my birds dried bananas.as i was told to do this from a person on hear he has still has not gave me any more little tips. i am not at school to day as i caught the measles from on of my birds. this is the truth. ;D
pjc Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 can i make a sugestion for the mods/admin, When any new starters or youngsters join the forum they add them self to a list showing which area they live in and they would appreciate some birds. When members are willing to donate birds to these members they can look on the list and maybe help a junior localy to them which would save carriage etc just a thought!
