hi guys,

after looking for some valencian pouters for 3 years, i have found someone who is going to sell me a cock bird and 2 hens,

the cock bird is a grizzle , and the hens are blue bars,  what color would i get from them ? would it be a color i could show ? here is a picture of the father of the cock bird, i havent seen the bird for sale , is this old boy a good type bird , ?  ,   i like him alot  , also the breed is rare as hens teeth here in australia

also  can i keep all 3 birds together in the same loft all the time ?  would the cock bird breed with both hens at the same time ? is that possible ?

also would it be possible to keep all 3 in the same loft all year round, or better to sepurate ? i will only have 3 birds, and i have 3  small lofts

sorry for all the questions

regards jase

you would get blues,  blue pieds and grizzles from the pairings looks like a nice bird to me , as for showing i dont know about what your show standards are over there im sure they will be several catogorys which you would get details from your fancy association  :)

yes the cock will pair with both as they are a thief pigeon driven by there desire for the hens, the spanish who fly them keep the cocks  like racing guys do widowhood cocks ...i suggest you get another cock bird it can be a racer if you are going to breed some to fly out the scottish guys  use a racer as a cross to give them a bit more ranging ability..a note though when the guys are flying them they are generally kept in seperate boxes and only shown the hen 2 increase there sex drive so when flying out they will go seek out hens to bring home to the loft...hope this helps..

Douglas Bald never had any spanish pouters. He had some good horseman though. Where he lives theres no one else around him.
