Thanks nicepictures but didnt answer any of my questions really. I have a guy round the road from me who  breeds them and sells them to people in town, just wondered why people would want to steal other folks pigeons? what do they do with them? are my birds safe? this guy has them open hole all the time,he laughed when I told him about my new birds (like an evil laugh) :-/

the object of horseman pigeons is to catch other peoples horsemen. example i put out a cock bird and someone else puts out a hen bird birds meet. normally mate the either split or the hen goes back with the cock bird or vice versa. if in this case my cock bird brought back the hen and i caught it then i would need to put out a hen bird next it,s called a return . the birds are caught by pulling a hood over them when they land on board .the hood is very similar to a baby's pram hood.one of my friends has a cock bird that has caught 35 hens

THE HORSEMAN IS ONE OF A GROUP OF BIRDS CALLED THIEF POUTERS. THESE WERE DEVELOPED TO ENTICE OTHER FANCIERS BIRDS TO THERE LOFT, THE OTHER FANCIER WOULD THEN HAVE TO PAY TO GET THE BIRD OR BIRDS BACK...THE HORSEMAN IS ALSO SHOWN AT PIGEON SHOWS. AND NO YOUR OWN BIRDS WOULDNT BE SAFE IF THE GUY DECIDED TO TARGET YOUR BIRDS. WITH THEM.

REGARDS...STEVE :) :)

aaah I see, what a funny sport!! I saw a pram hood thing on the web. Do they keep the ones they steal? or give them back?

their is a chance he has it .when your birds are a bit older their is more chance of you getting the odd one in and not much chance off him getting any of yours
