Chichichi posted earlier they had 17 form 20 i think by lunch time. I know they have been training for a fair while, poor returns will in many cases be poor preperation and lack of training for which the weather hasn't helped.

As normal some have to send because its the first race and they might miss out on an average!

you are right there Phil, this year our young birds have been trained further than I used to have to send them to Lanarkshire's first young bird race [ which was Kelso and that was 58 miles or so to where I used to live ], we have had them out to 62 miles plus we had been single tossing them from 40 miles, so we are sure we have done the best we can in preparation for our first race next week which is 98 miles to our lofts

Same old story Tom. Every year it's the same. And guess what, it is no one's fault, it never is.

The south east pigeons must fly accross the flight paths of goodness knows how many other Feds so obviously there will always be a risk of clashing. Inexperienced Babies have very little chance.

Surely it would be common sense to have some system of checking on the returns after these races so that there would be evidence of the results to work on. I did'nt send this week because I thought this would happen. Not that I have solved the problem for myself because the losses will mount as they always do.

I think people are so concerned about the losses and the fact that they could be reported that a lot are not wing stamping their birds. At least that is what I have seen in the strays that I have had here.
