Guest IB Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 The thread reminded me of the jungle in front of mine! Been out tidying up for the last hour or so. Once upon a time, fairly keen in growing normal veg crops, not so since moving here, planted bulbs, perenniels & shrubs only creating a proverbial 'automatic' garden, just a matter of keeping weeds down. Never heard of a veg called squash. What is it?
Peckedhen Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Bet I'm the only one with a palm tree!! ;D
Mr Yorkie Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Craig, your loft and veg plot are truly amazing! We used to grow veg, podded peas being my favourite but the pigeons used to eat them before me!!!
THE FIFER Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 plant a few garlic bulbs in pots, birds love picking at them.
Guest IB Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Bet I'm the only one with a palm tree!! ;D Not one for keeping up with the Jones' but I've got two. ;D Started off as one in the front garden which was a fairly sad specimen and when it flowered and died (as I thought) I dug it up and left trunk lying on ground. A good while later I was told to check the base for new shoots, and sure enough there were two, so I cut these out and planted them, one in the same place in the front garden and the other in the back garden. Front is very tall , slender & graceful, while the one in the back garden is short, stumpy, crooked (windblown) and forked, it has two heads. :-/ Beauty & the Beast.
