this week i had a stray come in its a white grizzle squeaker with an 08 ring on i phoned the owner he came to get the bird on his arrival he looked at the bird and said that is not my bird but it is his ring he said he never flies grizzles so i have been chucking it out and it keeps coming back why or what has happened to cause this confusion however he is transferring the bird to me but we dont know where it has come from

yeah some one ust had cut the leg of another pigeon and put on the young one did you ask what it was from?

yeah he had know idea he does not have any grizzles in his shed lol

The bird is his, it is registered to him and so he should claim it or contact RPRA and try to sort it out.

well what he is doing because i have chucked it out when ive been training by itself it still come back so ill transfer it and race it next year

Surely you cant do that? If the ring has been removed from an 08 bird and put on a 09 squeaker then it gonna be racing with people thinking it is a year older than it actually is??? :-/

nothing to stop him, you ring youngsters now with old rings they can race as old birds  :-/

but the thing is thiis bird has his ring on but its not his bird he has never had a grizzel but he is willing to transfer this bird for me so i wont be racing till next year with it cuz i cant but it will be an old bird then any way

he will know what bird of his did have that ring on, cant see any purpose in anybody puting someone elses ring on a birs uless its a non racing fancier and just wanted a ring  :-/

Its done nearly every year ringing late breds. There is no advantage gained in doing this when racing commences the following season.

dunno if the bird is any good anyway but wel see but look at the grizzle in my loft pat she was bred off a stray in 98 at my dads loft because the owner never wanted it and that family is still going strong
