Feeding advice

Hi all this is my first season with yb been feeding a high protein mix with barley added for future distance racing in mind but now that i have finished racing my yb whats the best food for the birds to complete a good winter moult and whats the best types of barley and maize to buy to add to my mixes in the future bearing in mind i will be buying from a farming merchants where i know the grain can be a bit dusty but does it matter that much,any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated.

hi frazer  ill answer yer mate , can you get a moulting mix down your way , if not any type of race mix would be ok , just add some oil seeds to it or feed seperate , 12 per cent protein is enough this time of year.

i just use an cheap mix, not to bothered as long as they get fed

using a moulting mix the now for young and old and use widowhood mix for all birds when racing once the moult is complete i will put them on a breeding mix probably about end of november time.

make sure they get plenty of viatamins and minerals...plus add oils to their corn 1-2 times a week.

as others said a racing mix will do ,but not too heavy.

cider vinegar will provide their feathering with a nice silky feel when theyve moulted out.

you can add some oily seeds to their food too.

a did that 2 year ago and cin a big change in my birds they didnt look nice they didnt hav any body 2 them so a went on versa larga threw the winter lyk a use versa larger threw the racing season so all year round am usein versa larga and cin a dif in me birds they lookd the part they had a body 2 them this time they went str8 threw the moult so am doin the same again this year apart from am usein gem seed coz a think its abetta seed
