wilsric Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Hi There. Is it critical to have lots of clear space around the loft? One of my potential loft sites (the one with the most space) is a clearing surrounded on all sides by trees. Would this be OK or would the lack of visibility be an issue? Cheers
OLDYELLOW Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 birds need to see all around putting a loft in trees will make the birds feel unsafe and can be ambushed by bops
wilsric Posted May 26, 2009 Author Report Posted May 26, 2009 I suspected it wouldn't do, but was hoping otherwise due to the extra space. Thanks for the info.
Guest Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 trees can draw dampness and mr hawk will love you doing that he can strike from 360% at close range i would certainly look for somewhere else
retired Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 A friend of mine lives within the grounds of the crematorium and cemetry and his garden is totally covered by trees from all view points - The birds fly well around home on open hole but once they get in the basket he has a high perncentage of losses - Some maybe down to management but i would also conclude many are down to the location of the loft. If that is where you must go to keep pigeons though so be it
