I used to have trouble with cats. It had got so bad that I was in danger of getting myself into serious trouble because it all turned very nasty. A couple of years before I had used an electric fencer to contain sheep and goats. It had been lying in my shed, forgotten.

My wife was worried that I could end up hurting someone so she asked me to try the fencer. It was brilliant straight away. The bonus was it also stopped a fox that had been creeping about at night and the terriers from next door.

The fencer I first used was an old model that ran from a car battery. The one I have now is powered from the mains so I don't have to worry about charging the batteries.

Of all the things that I have done for the pigeons, that fencer has got to be the best.

now even i can understand that most of the time the dog can scare the cat out of the garden, but what do you do if the cat just sits on the roof of the loft just looking at a barking dog on the ground [and that must happen]also where can you get a cheap electric fence system from, the reason for asking is after putting a new loft up and letting the birds out for the first time it took me 24 hours plus to get them back in due to next stores cat constantly climbing over the roof [its a pent so i can not see the cat until its to late]and attacking the birds whilst the proud owners looked on :o :o :o :o :o

farm supplies for fencing unit or e-bay,

no probs with roof, screw insulators into roof and go round it with electric fence wire, they will only get a wack off it once they never forget,

make sure the fence wire does not touch anything that is not insulated.(that includes any timber)or it will run to earth and not work correctly.

i take it they are getting on roof from neighbours fence or other building, if not go round the entire loft with 3strands of fence wire,on plastic stakes 1st strand 6" off floor then 2 more at 6" above that thats 18" of fence you can just step over it, but you must keep grass short under fence or it will earth out again.

if your not sure what i mean pm me your mobile i will send you pics of what i mean. ;)

cats hunt in a 15 mile area so your best bet is to catch them and send to to cate heaven   :'( :'( :'( :'(

totally agree but cant always be done in some places, or may cause more trouble than its worth.

all the cats i meet seem to have used 9 lives. ;D
