blackdog Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 stopped running the gauntlet up here in cumbria 3 weeks ago, i think the birds have enough to contend with at the weekends racing and do they really need it as last week i had 10 drop together out of 18 sent to 101 miles, plus think of all the money i have saved in fuel in 3 weeks sends them away racing

If they still feel threatened, they will leave the area. Your birds are becoming street-wise. Time for the rest to turn up.
chrisbonnie Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 my dear old dad has had a terrible 2 days fancying, got some new stock birds last night, drove over 200 mile for them, some cooremans, andother breed i cant remember, Karl Brock i think??? anyway, got them home last night, decided to do a quick "changing rooms" to seperate the loft, so let our normal ybs out while we where messing about, for some mad reason, come 10 o`clock, all the birds where on the roof of the loft, but then they just flew off got up early this morning, all back bar one that we got 3 weeks ago, who`s sister has won 3 races in here in Ireland in recent weeks :-/ and to make matters worse, my dad then STUPIDLY left the stock loft door open for a second and one of his new stockies did a runner now thats a shitty day!!! oh, and he lost his best pigeon on saturday to a hawk attack too, i nearly forgot that

Make sure they know where its safe to let birds go, away from wires, busy roads etc etc as i've seen many birds thrown away by being liberated in stupid places.
