CHAIRDE FRIENDS

tomorrow a guy is coming to collect some fantails

(and in the best tradition of this site the birds are free)

questions

A he got fantails a few months ago for his dovecot

how long should he keep the new birds in for given the others a flying out

B he is also getting some of last years birds for his parents dovecot

(they live in the country)

how long should they keep the fantails in for

Are they exhibition fantails or garden fantails?

 

It will make a difference. I would suggest leaving them in for 3 weeks and then not feeding them the day before releasing them.

Howver my Garden fantails escaped on day 2 and have stayed. Was VERY lucky i think.

Sorry to show my ignorance but where do you keep exhibition fantails? Do they have all the same things that racing pigeons do? I have often admired them and maybe one day I'll have a go at keeping a few. But I would'nt know where to start right now.
