If you try Rod sparkes you will be getting them  from a top flyer as I said Kevin hurst and rod flew as partners until kevin moved overseas the stock birds were sold and rod kept the racing team. Now he is selling birds bred from the race team he is only a back garden flyer not a stud. :)

hi, another local i have just met has offered me a pair of birds he purchased from louella PW, there is a mealey cock 03 & brown check hen i think 03, obviously i dont think these will ever break to my loft, but was going to breed them, as he has bred 2 good ones that have won a few races out of 8 bred, so with respect im a new starter & low on stock, when do you think the best time to breed from these birds? all advice appreciated.

It depends how early you want your young birds , you can pair up from Jan until march it depends on what system you are going to race your old birds, or your young birds. :)

thanks, i just dont know what to do , as i dont have enough birds to race next year, unless i get some old birds  n breed them jan or feb, as i have 2 late breds & 1 late late bred which will be ready next week, is it worth me having them any way to breed off jan or feb?

Snowy, if your latebreds are just ready now, they'll hardly be ready to breed from in January. It takes a while to get a team of pigeons together, but there's nothing worse than having a team of 1st round youngsters all different ages (i.e. weeks between them), so maybe mid-February would be a better target date - that way you can set all your breeders down at the same time.  :)

yes i think your right, but was thinking of breeding a few old birds too, which now i realise im better off doing all at the same time, so maybe end of jan i was thinking?

i have had pigeons from l.p.w since 1988,these were the stamvater and sheer elagance line also 2 g.sons off "arjan". i must say that these pigeons were the best i ever had and they won races for fun.the biggest mistake i ever made was letting them go to replace them with sootjens even though they won they wouldnt have kept up with the janssens, i have just got some of my old line back them being 10 years old now but ime very happy with them. nearly every pigeon i have had from l.p.w have been good pigeons, if anybody intent to win fast races i would advise them to go for the old line from there janssens they are great. Best wishes for 2006.

i have found breeding from a closae family is better, you get better results in the stock loft also when there raced. i had 12 pigeons drop together from a 47 ml race and all were very closley related.these went on to win many more prizes in there racing careers.

I would expect all my birds to drop together from a 47 mile race ? thats a traing distance

i know its a training distance but sometimes you dont get them like that when you train them, never mind when theres over a 1000 pigeons liberated with them.
