Guest mick bowler Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 sorry. i ve got another option of shaving, sellers told me to shave the feathers to avoid them from flying well when you do please video and put it up because that i would love to see!!
Guest Freebird Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 I've heard some fanciers have used elastic bands on the flights to let the birds walk around and get used to their new home and more importanly to get back into it. Remove the band and flights still intact.
kiateapigeons Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 If you say they are for breeding why are you wanting to fly them out?? why dont you fly the youngsters out plus all this pulling the flights is not a good option and very cruel there have been good comments from members i have heard about soap and rubber bands as well and is supposed to work, but the shaving bit that would be good to see a vid

Craig05 Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 Do not cut or pull feathers. Use soap and from the bottom to the top of each flight rub in the soap always in one stroke. When each flights become stuck to the quill the bird cannot fly. This method will not damage the flights and when the bird is settled give it a couple of baths and the soap will come out. I use washing up liquid, it is the best. SL Spot on with the soap. pulling the flights out must be like haveing teeth pulled....
