A young bird auction in aid of young Seamus Lacey Kelly will take place in the Sarsfield R.P.C. Dublin on the Monday 19th April at 8pm.

The story of Seamus.

Hello!  My name is Seamus Lacey-Kelly I am 3 years old and live in Tournafulla, County Limerick, Ireland with my mum, dad and brother Jack who is 7, he’s my best friend, along with our dog “Jimbo†with whom we used to have great fun chasing each other around the garden. I used to love going to the park, to my uncles farm and to play with my cousins, this all changed last November when after a few weeks of felling like I had the flu, mummy took me to the Doctors where they took blood from me to test. After we got home the Hospital rang and said to go to the Limerick Hospital immediately as their was something unusual about my blood. My poor mammy and daddy were so heartbroken they couldn’t stop crying when told I had contacted something called Leukaemia. We had to go a long way from home in an ambulance to Crumlin Hospital for Sick Children in Dublin. We were there for 2 weeks and then Limerick Hospital for another week. The nurse and the doctors were nice but I hated them because they hurt me with those long needles. I have lost my hair now, I’m very tired and sometimes my legs feel like they are broke and I cannot walk very easily. I am not allowed to play outside or with my cousins, when I have friends come round they have to talk to me through the window. I do wish this illness would go away.

Love Seamus

This heart rending event has happened to our good friends and neighbours, Sean and Ede, whose lives have been literally devastated and torn apart since receiving this terrible news that every parent would dread “your child has Leukaemia†this news was given at the time Ede was caring for her father who was terminally ill with cancer. She had to leave Sean and Seamus in hospital in Dublin to return home and bury her father, an unbelievably cruel blow, Shamus’s brother Jack has also been affected by losing his granddad and missing his playmate Seamus, when he was in hospital, things now are so different. Sean is a bricklayer and was told by the doctor’s he would have to pack in work as he needs to be available 24/7 along with Ede to tend the special needs of Seamus for whom a 1 degree rise in temperature or a common cold means an immediate dash to a special ward in hospital, where specialist treatment would be administered until he improved. This lovely little boy who would give you a heart warming smile and wave whilst driving his tractor in the garden is now confined indoors as a slight cut, lick from the dog or even a normal plaster put on his skin can cause a serious infection as his immune system cannot cope due to chemotherapy. He has nightmares shouting at doctors and nurses telling them “not to hurt him anymoreâ€, his treatment, extracting bone marrow ect., is painful enough for an adult, let alone a 3 year old child who cannot understand “why are all these strange people hurting meâ€.

This family are going through a terrible time, both emotionally and financially (it’s a 340 mile trip to hospital in Dublin alone)

Whilst in England for many years, we flew as Highway lofts and never refused individuals or the many Charitable Organisations requesting our help, by either making a monetary donation or sending birds for Auction.

Could we make a plea for help in raising much needed funds by way of a donation, pigeons or requisites which can be sold by a pigeon auction we are running on the 19th April

Please. Please help if you can.

List of donors will be advertised in the fancy press.

I doubt it Mick, already most of what has come since I put this on today have been for later bred youngsters.

The other lads Mick and Tucker got the ball rolling with their contacts and I would assume some of those would be later birds as well.

I will have a better idea when Mick starts to compile the sales list, will keep you informed.

Dont want to refuse any its a bit short notice and a bit cheeky to ask eveyone to donate a bird of a certin age.

sorry to hear that, can understand where your coming from.

Dont know the ins and outs of your past relationship with Mick but Im sure he can answer for himself in time.

Just to reiterate this is not about one man or history between fanciers, this is about a young boy and his family in dire need of help.

One thing you can be sure of when I put my name to something its straight, my reputation is very important to me and I will stand over everything I have done with this sale or anything else in Pigeons.

Thanks again.

Got a phone call tonight, looks like we have around 60 lots.

With this being a one night auction I think we have plenty now.

I want to thank all the fanciers who came up trumps yet again for a worthy cause and donated birds, also to the lads who sent messages of support its fantastic.

The sales list will apper on site and in the press as soon as possible.

Most of the birds will be in the pen on the night but as you can see from this thread  some will not.

I would encorage anyone who is intrested in any of the lots with later young birds or any lots for that matter to send me commission bids.

You can pm me on the site or email me at kevinbarry88@gmail.com

Thanks again everybody.
