I have settled in Southampton and I am semi retired. I have not yet got a loft erected neither have I bought any stock birds. I need to learn a lot more about pigeons first.

 

I kept pigeons at a young age but this does not equip me to take it up again and start racing. I want to get everything in place before I start. Setting up again means I have to relearn just about everything, I have spent many hours on the internet and pigeon racing has become so much more, with loft design to stock to handling and this interests me greatly. I do not know if I want to compete North or South Road, or in time race both, or what type of bird I am aiming at. (before you say it winners I know) But I feel I have a long way to go before then.

 

I would like to thank the fanciers who have answered some of my questions one in particular.

may  i suggest   the loft,  now you can go 2 ways with this  having one built as a dual purpose,    should you  give the birds up,  it easy to convert to a  shed,  that out the way   have it built that is pleasant to look at for you, and next door,  take only young birds in  and train them  and  race them  no prisoner stock  only hold you back  for now .
