belmont Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 Anyone know if a pair will sit 3 eggs? And what about rearing 3 young uns? Cheers
Guest grizzler Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 cant see any problem, have had birds rear three youngsters in the past ;)
kraftykev Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 yes mate they will sit three eggs and will raise three babies. It does take a lot out of the parents so when i have done it in the past i have put water and seed in the nest box with them. I have only done this before as an emergency and wouldnt advise to do it as the norm.
hoodedclaw Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 i had it last year it turned out the 2 birds where hens one of them got on like a cock
belmont Posted April 8, 2010 Author Report Posted April 8, 2010 have you breed from them 2 before Could choose from a few pairs to put the eggs under. My own fault. Was too late putting another bowl in the box, so she's laid round the loft. Can only be the one hen as all others have got young uns and eggs. Will try putting the 2 eggs under different pairs and see how they go then. Cheers for the advice everyone
